Parish Activities
“And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 13:52).
Listed here are the various ways in which we have fun and enjoy each other’s company.
BBQ Festival
Blessed Mother participates in the annual International BBQ Festival. The Festival is held on the second Friday and Saturday of May. The Cook-off is on Saturday. All are welcome to work at the booth, cook, decorate or stir burgoo. Call Charlie Kase (270-686-7646).
Bunko Group
We have two bunko groups. One meets every Monday at 1:00 PM in the Parish Hall. The other meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM in a different person’s home. All men and women 55 and over are invited to come join in the fun. For more information, contact Ann McIntyre (270-684-4105).
Burgoo Cooks
Besides the Picnic and the BBQ Festival, our cooking team gathers throughout the year to stir up some of our famous burgoo. Proceeds go to various parish ministries. Please support this ministry by helping the cooks or by purchasing some burgoo! Contact Danny Thomas (270-684-2120).
Coffee and Donuts
No longer provided as the Parish has not expressed interest. Please contact the office and let us know if you would like to re-start this activity.
Parish Picnic
Every year we have a church picnic to raise money, make new friends, and build community. This is probably the largest, most anticipated event of the year. Our award-winning barbecue (chicken, pork, mutton) and burgoo is always plentiful, as well as games, raffles, home-made crafts, auctions, ice cream, and so much more! Workers are needed to run the booths, serve the food, cook, set-up and take-down. Call Ben Miller (270-685-2143) or Jan Storm (270-993-4455) to see how you can help!
Ballroom Dancing
Are you interested in finding an enjoyable activity that promotes health through dance exercise? Experienced ballroom dance instructors will offer four more evening classes here at Blessed Mother, Tuesdays at 6:30 PM beginning August 27th, only $40 per couple. For more information please contact Ellen (270-314-3731) or Ed (270-929-5069) Higdon by texting or calling, or send an email to [email protected].
