"No greater joy can I have than this, to hear that my children follow the truth" (3 Jn 1:4).
Our religious education program is for children in grades K - 8 who are members of the parish but do not go to Catholic schools. Parents are strongly encouraged to enroll their children in this program. It is in this way that we take seriously the "Great Commission" given to us by Christ to make disciples, teaching them to observe all that God has commanded us (cf. Mt 28:19-20).
For a long time, this program of instruction was referred to as "CCD" (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine), and in many places this term is still used. Another acronym, "PSR" (Parish School of Religion), has recently gained popularity as well. At Blessed Mother, we simply refer to this program as "Religious Ed."
The children are dismissed to their classrooms from the Parish Hall, after the 10 AM Mass on Sunday. Classes begin at 11:15 AM and end at 12:30 PM. Usually there is time for each child to grab a donut and some orange juice in the Parish Hall before the dismissal.
If you do not go to the 10 AM Mass, please bring your child to the Parish Hall shortly after the 10 AM Mass. Do not bring your child to the classroom. If you do, then there will be a period of time before the dismissal where your child will be alone in the classroom. For safe environment reasons, this is a situation we want to avoid.
When class is over at 12:30, please come to the classroom to pick up your child. You have to personally walk into the building, to your child's classroom. This is our only way of ensuring that every child leaves with the right person and returns home safely.
The price for one child is $50. The total price for two children is $65. The total price for three or more children is $75. Financial assistance is available for those who need it.
To register, please fill out the following forms and mail them or bring them by the Parish Office (the mailing address is at the very bottom of the page).
You need a Registration form and a Youth Code of Conduct form for each child, but mulitple children can go on one Safe Environment form. The Registration form is front and back. Please make sure you fill it out as thoroughly as possible.
You can also pick up these forms in the Parish Office

The kindergarten students use Volume 1, “Who Am I?” from the Image of God series, published by Ignatius Press.
Students in grades 1-8 use the Faith and Life series, also published by Ignatius Press. It includes the following volumes:
It is very important to this parish that your child receives an education that is faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church. As such, we only use textbooks and activity books that have been judged by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to be in conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
The Religious Ed Handbook has everything that you need to know as a parent with a child enrolled in our Religious Ed Program. It includes:
This is a valuable resource that you should turn to often. You can download the handbook for 2012-2013 below, in Microsoft Word 97-2003 or Adobe PDF format:
