Scripture Studies

“Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Mt 4:4).

The study of God’s word is very important to us, and the studies we do periodically throughout the year are always our most highly attended events. Some studies we have completed in recent years include the following:

As Catholics we should never be afraid to read and study any book of the Bible, for it was the Catholic Church who compiled the very canon of Scripture, and only the Catholic Church can claim continuity of faith with the very same followers of God who wrote the books of the Bible.

If you would like to learn more about the Bible and how we should read it as Catholics, there is a section on our Links page called “The Bible” that is devoted to that subject.

Of course, you are also welcome to be a part of one of our Scripture studies. Just contact the parish office.

Current Studies

Our parish has decided to start over with Jeff Cavins' Bible Timeline. It's been around 10 years so we were last introduced to it, and it seemed like the time was right to remind ourselves of the over-arching Story of Salvation History that makes the revealed Word -- and out own lives -- make sense. We finished Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible , an eight week study course.  We have moved on the 23 Session, more in-depth view of the Bible timeline.

The sessions will be divided throughout the year, to accommodate school and vacation schedules.  We meet on Wednesdays. There are two sessions available: A 10 AM or a 7 PM session, in the Youth Room. Choose the one that best fits your schedule. They run parallel to each other, so if you can't make the morning session one week, you can attend the evening session instead.  Currently, we are out of books for this series.  God be praised for such a wonderful turnout.  We can still order new books, so if you interested and would like to join us, please call the office so we can order you a book and stop by on Wednesday.
